(November 5, 2007) - LightLab Imaging, Inc. today announced performance of first-in-man cases with its next generation OCT Coronary Imaging System. The cases were broadcast live from Siegburg, Germany, to an audience of over 1,000 attendees in the Main Arena of the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) meeting in Washington D.C. on October 24, 2007. "This is the first clinical demonstration of our ultra high speed imaging system, which performs the imaging procedure in just several seconds with no occlusion of the patient's blood flow," said Akira Masuda, Chairman and CEO of LightLab. "The simplicity and inherent safety of the imaging procedure with this new system opens the door to its use during a broad range of cardiac interventional procedures." The live case was performed by Prof. Dr. Eberhard Grube, of the Helios Heart Center in Siegburg, Germany. It makes a beautiful image, and now we are looking at things in a much different way." Stone, M.D., Professor of Medicine at Columbia University and Chairman of CRF, commented "the audience was amazed at these images," which showed a recently implanted stent and the tissues covering the stent with a resolution of approximately 15 microns, more than 10 times the resolution of intra-vascular ultrasound (IVUS). Dr. Stone noted, "The difference in resolution between OCT and IVUS is extraordinary. This should significantly improve our ability to make accurate decisions for patients."
